RE: Freedom From Fear
Depression isn’t something you catch, you cannot compare it to something as menial as a cold unless it’s in regards to how common it is. Depression is a serious medical condition that can leave a person feeling useless, unimportant, and hopeless and much more that can’t even be put into words. In serious cases it can lead to suicide or self-mutilation, often both. It is not something a person can overcome on their own either, support, patience and understanding are needed. Luckily there are non-profit organizations such as Freedom from Fear that helps improve the lives of those who are suffering from depression of all ages. There are treatment centers that you can visit where they have licensed professionals that are able to provide treatment for those in need. They even have an internship program for undergraduate and graduate students for those studying mental illnesses.
Their website provides information and research on depression if you need to get a better understanding on it as well as information in regard to health insurance in order for you to get a better idea on how to receive financial assistance. They also provide a list of various treatments you can undergo on their site such as medications and various types of therapies. It goes into detail to what each treatment does and even provides in-depth information to the purpose of each treatment and the process.
If you visit the website you can find information on the events that Freedom from Fear hosts and register to host a workshop there. For example the website provides information on “National Anxiety and Depression Awareness” and “Mental Health Wellness Week”. It even goes into detail on the purpose of the events and ways to assist in organizing a workshop. The whole point appears to be just getting the work out and finding ways to help others.
The founder, Mary Guardino faced anxiety and depression from childhood all the way to adulthood. In her message she explains that her past was her own inspiration to beginning the organization and also hosts an internet talk show on YouTube under “The Mind in Motion” where she conducts interviews and discusses human behavior as well as mental health.
Freedom from Fear has assisted the New York Philanthropic Advisory Service in providing information to help those who suffer from anxiety and depression disorders. You can also find Freedom from Fear on the popular social networking sites, Facebook and Twitter where they provide links and videos to advice and articles in relation to depression. On their website they provide information for anyone searching to understand depression more and learn how to cope with it. If you need any more information you can contact the organization at (718) 351 – 1717 ext. 20 or email them at [email protected]. Their link to their site is www.freedomfromfear.org. You can sign up for their E-Newsletter to receive research, new treatment plans, and much more.
